With the wide application of non-linear loads\nand the large-scale access of distributed energy generations\nbased on power electronics equipments, power quality\nproblems in the distribution network are increasingly\nserious with new characteristics. Further in-depth research\nis of great significance in theory and practice. This paper\nprovides an overview of power quality analysis, compensators,\nand control technologies under the new situation of\nsmart grid. It focuses on the topologies and control methods\nfor power quality conditioners, especially new characteristics\nof power quality and applicable control\ntechnologies in microgrids and distributed power plants.\nFinally, trends and prospects of power quality control\ntechnology are introduced, which is important to achieve\nsecurity and efficient operation of the smart grid.
